In the first HALF of 2010, the U.S. solar industry installed 340 MW of solar, at a cost of $6.40 per watt. In the first QUARTER of 2015, the U.S. installed 1,330 MW of solar – at an average $2.36 per watt. That’s ~ 4x times as much solar, in ½ the time, at 1/3rd the cost. Solar is continuing its exponential growth. And now, battery energy storage is undergoing a similar evolution. Most everyone has heard about Tesla’s Giga Factory being built in Nevada, which will by itself DOUBLE the world’s battery production. Now, another mainstream company is also entering the fast-emerging battery storage industry: Dyson, the vacuum manufacturer!
